“If you Change the way you look at things, the things you look at Change.” - Wayne Dyer
“The horrible experiences during the (Vietnam) war and the suffering of everybody on all sides inspired me to do something that would be a living symbol of peace, reconciliation and hope.” -George Mizo
The Vietnam Friendship Village Project was initiated in 1988 by George Mizo American war pilot who established it for local war survivors in Hanoi. The place takes care of North Vietnamese veterans but provides treatment mostly to second and third generation children who are still dealing with the affects of the air raids. The painting shows a North Vietnamese war veteran at the shelter. Touched by his look, I pushed the window bars aside from his face. This photo was taken by my talented husbend Avi Levy during his extraordinary photography journey to Vietnam.
